Sittingbourne FC U18's Match Reports
| Sittingbourne U18 3 Ebbsfleet U18 2 AET (31-Oct-2010) |
|
Bourne team go nuts over Almond cracker TWO red cards, two late goals and a recovery from 2-0 down. Sounds like quite a Kent Youth Cup tie at Bourne Park on Sunday. Ebbsfleet took an early lead, doubled it and although Bourne came back at them they were still two goals adrift at the interval. When the opposition had a player sent off, though, it gave Bourne the lift they needed and confidence soared further when Charlie Almond cut the deficit in half. They carried on pressing and with only a couple of minutes left George Keen equalised after some clever movement on the right. It finished 2-2 and it was now all about extra-time. Bourne had the edge, but with tension rising by the second they had a player cautioned and then sent off, leaving both sides with 10 players. They fought themselves to a virtual standstill but with most people thinking in terms of penalties Bourne found a second wind, pulled together and snatched it at the death. There were only a few moments left when Almond connected with a 25-yard belter which whistled into the roof of the net. He was immediately buried under a mass of ecstatic team mates. You can understand why. |
